The renowned designer and blogger, Artemiy Lebedev, recently took to social media to share his thoughts on the demolition of the "Perm Gates." Reflecting on the cultural revolution that once thrived in Perm, Lebedev lamented the current state of the city, describing it as stagnant and devoid of any significant events.
Lebedev mentioned that a decade ago, during the height of the cultural revolution, Perm was a place of excitement and novelty. However, in recent times, the city has lost its vibrancy and now fails to captivate its residents.
The "Perm Gates" structure was erected in 2011 near the Perm II railway station only to be demolished earlier this year in June. Its remnants were discovered at the construction site for a new club. It is worth noting that this location was once home to a church built in 1857. During the Soviet era, the church was destroyed and replaced with a club.
Lebedev's post serves as a reminder that Perm has undergone significant changes throughout its history, culminating in its current state of inactivity and decay. The city's once-thriving cultural scene has dwindled, leaving its inhabitants longing for the lively atmosphere of bygone years.
