Famous Russian actor Bedros Kirkorov has been deceived by an acquaintance who took 3.5 million rubles from him, according to his lawyer Oleg Kulagin. The incident occurred on June 14, 2023, when the acquaintance, named Sanasar Basentsyan, borrowed the money from Kirkorov but never returned it. Basentsyan has since disappeared and has been declared bankrupt by a court in March 2024. Kulagin believes that the fraud was planned and that Basentsyan never intended to repay the debt.
Kirkorov trusted Basentsyan, who presented himself as a successful businessman in the construction industry. They had regular contact, with Basentsyan even calling Kirkorov to inquire about his well-being. However, after borrowing the money, Basentsyan cut off all communication.
Kirkorov has requested that Basentsyan be held criminally responsible for fraud under Article 159 of the Russian Criminal Code. The actor hopes that the authorities will locate Basentsyan and recover the stolen funds.
This is not the first case of fraud reported in Russia. Recently, a 75-year-old pensioner from St. Petersburg was deceived by a phishing scam and lost 8.9 million rubles. Such cases serve as a reminder to be vigilant and cautious when dealing with financial transactions.
