A Moscow court has fined opera singer Maksakova 50,000 rubles for violating the activities of a foreign agent. Maksakova, a former member of the State Duma, has been recognized as a foreign agent in Russia. She was found guilty of committing an administrative offense under Article 19.34 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation. Maksakova's debt to the Federal Tax Service amounts to 532,000 rubles.

Maksakova left Russia in May 2022, and a year later, in May 2023, the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation listed her as a foreign agent. According to the ministry, Maksakova "called for the provision of weapons to Ukraine, the overthrow of the current government of the Russian Federation, and spoke as a respondent on platforms provided by foreign structures."

The court's decision comes as part of ongoing investigations related to embezzlement at the Ministry of Defense. Searches were conducted at the home of Maksakova's brother, singer Galkin.
